In 2022, we were brought on as the interiors lead for the renovation of Hollins Market in the Hollins Market and Union Square neighborhoods. Hollins Market is Baltimore’s oldest continuously operating public market, open since 1836.
We worked with the Baltimore Public Markets, which manages the property and its operations, in close collaboration with Two Point Studio, to select and install new lighting, finishes, furniture, and fixtures, and to finalize the brand aesthetic for the overall market space. Signs of Intelligent Life was brought in to paint brand imagery inspired by the original ceiling medallions in the market's head house. The market serves not only as a neighborhood gathering space, but also as a grocery source to the neighborhood, which is otherwise considered a food desert. While some may come for hot food, treats, or to play Keno; the market now houses a local grocery store which sells fresh produce, meats, bakery items, packaged goods, and frozen foods, alongside a walk-up café where neighbors can grab their morning coffee.
