Third Place, Third Space

Hi there! Thanks for checking out my creative space! I’m starting this blog as a way to create a third place for myself to write and share more with all of you. A third place is typically somewhere you’d hang out that wasn’t work or home, where you can discuss things that matter to you, let your guard down, be yourself and expand friendships. We all need those spaces to spend time in and while I find myself frequently telling people that “my life is on Instagram”, it’s more of a second workplace to me than a third place. My feed is the place that people go when they’re looking for a way to contact me, or just asking how I’ve become part of this amazing creative community in Baltimore. Instagram has really been a homing beacon and the main platform I’ve functioned on for several years. Sometimes though, I want to share a bit more, say things without hashtags, and feel like people can engage with me in more than emojis. Explaining a project, or where I sourced different pieces, maybe telling an amazing client story, or sharing the struggles of my creative startup life, all of that might end up here in this space, and I see readers as a part of that as well.

With my blog I hope to give some insight into how I see spaces with my "special design eyes", talk about my process, give you a behind the scenes look at how I work with clients, and allow you to get to know me as a designer and a friend. As a self-proclaimed localist, I'll also be focusing on products, shops and businesses that call the DMV home, though I'm sure the big box brands will find their way in. I am a Target addict. (Who isn't at this point?!), and while at Syracuse I was once called an IKEA princess, I love West Elm and CB2, and the home lines from Anthropologie and Nordstrom. Plus getting back into the interior design realm has put me in touch with all my old wholesale flames whose embers never really went out.

Think of this as a place to meet up with your creative, smart friend, who's going to show you around the area, introduce you to my friends, and give you some design tips like the deets on some lust-worthy products for your home. I hope you’ll join me by commenting and letting me know what you think too. Sounds like the perfect place to pop in once in a while for tea.
