Main Street in Color
LOCATION Hamilton-Lauraville / Baltimore, Maryland
SERVICES Facade Improvements
Hamilton-Lauraville Main Street stretches the length of Harford Road from White Avenue to the north down to Parkside Drive at the southern end. The neighborhood of Hamilton-Lauraville is comprised of eight individual communities nestled along the corridor, including Hamilton Hills, Hamilton, Lauraville, Waltherson, Moravia-Walther, Beverly Hills, Arcadia, and Morgan Park.
The Main Street in Color project was focused on the aesthetics of the Hamilton-Lauraville Main Street corridor as a whole, and how it relates to the surrounding neighborhoods it serves. Our goal was to visually unify the Harford Road corridor through facade improvements utilizing exterior paint and signage applied to designated buildings that serve as visual touchpoints along Harford Road.
We developed a color palette for the corridor based on the existing branding of the eight communities within Hamilton-Lauraville. This palette was the basis of our color selection process. We then observed what other colors were adjacent to the target buildings and provided mockups for the building owners to select from. When businesses already had a branding package, we implemented brand-specific or complementary colors.
